Impeachment is for Wimps

I am puzzled when I hear Democrats saying that impeachment of Bush or Cheney is too extreme. Anyone who follows the news will admit that serious crimes have been committed. But those same people are unwilling to pursue impeachment. They act as if impeachment were some kind of lynching or revolutionary act. But impeachment is simply a process by which a President can lose their job. That's it. They just get fired. There is no prison or tar and feathering involved. Impeachment is pretty wimpy when you think about it.

Imagine you are the boss of a company and one of your managers lies to the other managers and leads you on a fools errand that results in the deaths of 3400 employees and half a million customers. Oops. He also spied on other employees, kidnapped thousands of customers and is holding them in secret dungeons where they are routinely tortured. Egad. This employee has also had years of poor performance reviews and is showing no sign of improvement. He claims that he is trying to help the company but the company is suffering and his buddies are getting rich from shady deals that he has made over the years. So what do you do?

It goes without saying that this guy loses his job. It would be ridiculous and dangerous to let him stay. After that it is up to the police or the FBI.

Now you might think that this situation does not apply to President Bush because he is the boss of the USA. But you would be wrong. We are the boss, the American people. We elect the President and Vice President and our Constitution, Article II Section 4, says we can fire them if they commit "Treason, Bribery or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors". Our Representatives in Congress have sworn an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and that includes impeaching the President and Vice President if necessary. They work for us too and we expect them to do their job.

Some Democrats have argued that Bush's crimes are not serious enough to warrant impeachment. But people get fired for stealing office supplies or showing up late for work. Lying and killing thousands of people is arguably worse. So let's go Congress. Do the wimpiest, most minimal, thing that these crimes deserve. Fire Bush and Cheney by voting yes for Articles of Impeachment.

Why are the US constituents not so eager to address this issue? Can you not see the facts? It's right in front of your faces.

I agree with your statements wholeheartedly. This country, let alone our government, is in for a rude awakening if it fails to preserve the constitution, the basic foundation of this nation.

Impeachment is the first step. Congress and Senate MUST impeach Bush and Cheney for malfeasance and misfeasance. To not impeach Bush and Cheney is a crime to all humanity, but more importantly, it is a crime to the people of the United States.

Please do the right thing: Restore the integrity of this great nation. Impeach Bush and Cheney.

"Axis of Evil", "War on Terror", "9-slash-11"; these are buzz-words that awoke a sleeping giant in the loyal-voting far-right. The buzz-words are a beacon to attract the far-right's narrow-minded, divisive hate; hate meant to be directed toward enemies dictated by the fiendish whims of George W. Bush's personal, anti-enlightened philosophy. The irony: The axis of evil is in the perpetual act of feeding evil with evil; war is terror and terror war. Yes The World Trade Center was destroyed. No the jury isn't in on who, exactly, was responsible for destroying it. At this point, with only a little over a year left in his Presidency, I call for a Congressional investigation into whether the Bush Administration had anything to do with ordering or orchestrating the World Trade Center bombing. I don't believe in miracles - nor do I believe in coincidences, and the World Trade Center bombing was exactly what the Bush Administration needed to justify being in Afghanistan to lay oil pipelines contracted to be built by Halliburton; to justify enacting The American Service Members Protection Act, making it impossible for Americans, though particularly the Bush Administration, of being tried as War Criminals in The Hague. The World Trade Center bombing paved way for the civil-liberty-destroying Patriot Act, of which made it entirely legal for the Bush Administration to spy on innocent and unsuspecting Americans. The Patriot Act's loosely-worded text denies those Americans branded "domestic terrorists" due process. I've read all versions of the Patriot Act. Any who argue or protest against the Bush Administration can be imprisoned as a domestic terrorist. The World Trade Center was used to justify the invasion of, and now indefinite occupation in, Iraq. The claims made for the "regime change" in Iraq were found out to be false information and flat-out lies. What's left? The Bush Administration put in power Saddam Hussein's religious, political faction and American Troops are fighting a war against Saddam Hussein's enemies, now to include Iran. My head isn't spinning. There's no wool pulled over my eyes. One thing is perfectly clear to me: Republicans had the vision thought-out and appropriate legislation draft-ready long before September 11, 2001 to avoid any legal ramifications of their wrong-doings. Investigate. Impeach both Bush and Cheney, then try them both for treason and crimes against humanity.
